Guidelines and tools for extreme fire and fire in WUI management

Past events and research have highlighted weaknesses in responders’ ability in facing extreme fires and fires occurring in the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) areas. Furthermore, scientific projections suggest that the frequency of such fires is likely to increase in the future, making it essential for responders to be equipped with a solid understanding of extreme fire behavior and the specific challenges posed by WUI environments.

This workshop is designed for civil protection, environmental, and health professionals, focusing on the rapidly evolving challenges in Europe. It aims to bridge the gap between research and operational practices by sharing the knowledge and tools developed through the FirEUrisk project. Participants will gain valuable insights and practical guidance to improve their preparedness and response capabilities in facing the new challenges of extreme fires and fire in WUIs.
